He studied biology at the State University of Londrina, worked for twenty-five years in forest restoration and founded IBF (Instituto Brasileiro de Florestas), which he directed throughout that period. Among the projects he led was a reforestation initiative with Google that turned children’s drawings into thirty thousand trees planted.

The artistic practice came later, and it brought the matter of the earlier work with it: nursery seedling tubes, offcuts, leather and production waste began to make up paintings, sculptures and installations. Out of that investigation came the first tree of his series of works, the luminodia áurea, and later the large-format series.

His artistic training runs through continued study of painting and the example of masters such as Iberê Camargo. He studied with Charles Watson, one of the leading figures in the training of artists in Brazil.

He also founded IBRAPSI, the Brazilian Institute of Psychoanalysis, and Editora Solano, where he develops a method of literary production based on interview, research and listening. Psychoanalysis informs the field of drive in his research and the method of listening he applies to editorial work.

The three fields of the Art-Ecology thesis come from the areas he has worked in: psychoanalysis in the field of drive, forest restoration in the field of nucleation, and his father’s legacy in the field of light.
